Chad Slater-Scott President/CEO/Software Development Manager Chad is one of the co-founders of disEntropy and has extensive experience in developing multi-tier Internet applications and websites. His past experiences include planning, designing and implementing UIRIS (University of Iowa Research Information System) for the University of Iowa's Office of the Vice-President for Research. This grants and contracts management system utilizes C/C++, MFC (ISAPI), IIS, Windows Server Technologies, and MS SQLServer among other Internet technologies and involved migrating 30 years of legacy data from a mainframe environment. He also provided end-user training and extensive documentation. Other responsibilities while at the University of Iowa involved planning, designing, implementing, maintaining and upgrading several websites and database applications for the Division of Sponsored Programs and the Office of the Vice-President for Research.
Before that, Chad acquired practical experience as the manager of the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) Intranet project. He worked closely with PNM Executives and technical staff to develop an intranet from the ground up when the concept of an Intranet was still in its infancy. He was responsible for overseeing implementations of a database-driven personnel directory, live stock quote feeds, and content management systems allowing direct updates by various departments within the company.
Chad's first experience with the Internet was in the summer of 1995 (after graduating from the University of Iowa). He was responsible for creating and maintaining several sections of the Virtual Hospital website (www.vh.org). He created web page layouts, buttons and navigational images, scanned medical images and graphs, and created layout structures for digital textbooks including the “University of Iowa Family Practice Handbook.”
Josiah Salsbury Lead Applications Developer & Systems Analyst Josiah graduated summa cum laude (with high honors) from Northern Illinois University with degrees in both Computer Science and Operations Management while working as an on-campus teaching assistant for Advanced C/C++ and Unix Scripting. Shortly thereafter, he began working as a software designer in the greater Milwaukee area with a licensed Progress consulting firm by the name of Pronto Progress. There, he gained valuable experience in the areas of System and Database design, Quality Control Management, Transactional Processing, QAD, MFG/PRO, WebSpeed, Electronic Data Interface (EDI), XML, Visual Basic, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Microsoft SQL Server as well as Progress Versions 6, 7, 8 and 9. After leaving Pronto Progress, Josiah began teaching at New Horizons of Cedar Rapids where he earned certifications as a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Software Developer (MCSD) and Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). While there, he also continued software consulting under New Horizons in the areas of Database Analysis and Design, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access Programming as well as custom Visual Basic and Visual Basic .Net programming.
Then, in the winter of 2003, Josiah moved out to San Francisco, California, where he was hired by Case Central – a firm specializing in Electronic Discovery and Litigation Management Software. There, he gained experience in the areas of Advanced Database and System Design, Enterprise Resource Planning, XML, ERD, System Design And Planning Via Microsoft Visio, Linux Scripting, Custom Microsoft Excel And Access Programming, Microsoft SQL Scripting as well as the maintenance of a variety of Data Extraction tools used in electronic data conversion. While there, Josiah aided in the installation and implementation of Ascential DataStage – a high level ETL tool – for Microsoft SQL Server which was responsible for the retrieval and delivery of over 400 gigabytes of raw data to other teams throughout the company for data analysis and system integration.
